UN Türkiye visited Anıtkabir on UN’s 78th Anniversary

United Nations Türkiye Country Team members and staff led by Viorel Gutu, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative in Türkiye visited Anıtkabir on the occasion of the 78th Anniversary of the establishment of the UN.

The ceremony at the mausoleum began as the UN delegation led by Viorel Gutu walked on the Lion Road.

UN delegation first laid a wreath at Atatürk’s mausoleum and observed a minute of silence.

Following Gutu penned down his comments in the Memorial Notebook at the Misak-ı Millî Tower.

Gutu stated that on the 78th anniversary of the establishment of the United Nations, the world suffers from multiple conflicts, especially in this region, and also is woefully off track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the 2030 deadline.

“As we examine how countries can get back on track, make the transformative development agenda a reality, and make peace permanent, your wisdom guide us once again,” he wrote.

Gutu continued his message with one of Atatürk’s sayings, “The true happiness of World peace for humanity will only be possible if the followers of this high ideal multiply and succeed.”

“In line with your guidance, the United Nations is working to bring humanity together to make our world a better place for all and leave no one behind” he added.

Viorel Gutu ended his message by celebrating the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye and wishing the effective cooperation between the United Nations and Türkiye will further enhance to contribute to the efforts to overcome the challenges humanity faces today.
